This tree is provided by Ian McLeod. The data goes back to Rathmullen
(or Rathmullan) in County Donegal, Ireland.
An Unknown Malseed family had two sons:
James (married Anne Thompson) and Stewart
(married Fanny Starrett)
James and Anne Thompson Malseed were the parents of Australian
immigrants:
John
Robert
James junior
Eliza Anne (in Australia, she married cousin James.)
Stewart
Stewart and Fanny Starrett Malseed were the parents of Australian
immigrants:
James (in Australia, he married cousin Eliza Anne.)
Henry (had no children)
Ian states, “I've made the individual
at the top of the Malseed tree 'An Unknown Malseed' merely to show that James,
father of Eliza Ann, and Stewart, father of James 'Senior', were brothers. This
information comes to us courtesy of the late Theo Jarrett, and results from his
research into letters addressed to Henry Malseed (of Melrose,
Drik Drik) from his family living at Ardrumman, County Donegal, in 1865. I have
a notion that the Unknown Malseed may eventually turn out to be a William, but
that remains to be seen.”

Church of Ireland Graveyard in Rathmullan. Note that the name is spelled
"Molseed", although it is spelled "Malseed" on the church records. Also,
the church records gives Anne's date of burial as 31 Dec 1890.

As one can see from the above there were five Malseed immigrant families from
whom most of the Australian Malseeds trace their ancestry. (I,
Robert Malseed, know of at least one who immigrated to New South Wales from Co.
Donegal in 1961.)
